Scientific Methods

FINDER is using a suite of scientific analyses to screen thousands of unidentified bones from archaeological sites across Eurasia and extract as much information for the taxa these bones belonged to, their age, genetic ancestry and relationship.

The methods we use are:

  • Collagen peptide mass fingerprinting (or ZooMS)
  • Radiocarbon dating
  • Ancient DNA
  • Stable isotopes

Funding

FINDER project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement 715069—ERC-2016-STG).
